Betsy Hughes began working for E&G Group in May 2013. Starting as the Marketing Administrator, she quickly expanded her role in company to both accounting and day-to-day operations. With a bachelor’s degree in both Finance and Marketing from Virginia Tech, she has continued her education with Tax Credit Specialist and CPA courses. As the Director of Finance, Betsy oversees the accounting department and focuses primarily on the cash and asset management across E&G’s portfolio.
Carlos Rios is the Property Accountant at E&G Group. He provides accounting support for the property management team and helps with the preparation and distribution of financial reports and bank reconciliations. Carlos was working as a tax consultant for individuals and small companies for the last ten years prior to joining E&G Group in 2015. He moved to the DC area from Lima in 2003 where he worked as a stock market analyst. He is an Economist, an Enrolled Agent a CPA candidate and a proud father.

Kim is the Corporate Compliance Specialist at E and G Group with 18 years of property management experience. She joined E and G Group in January 2016 and now manages the corporate compliance department. Prior to joining E and G Group, Kim managed apartment communities in the South East in several affordable programs (Project-based assistance both with HUD and Rural Development, LIHTC and Bond, Home) and conventional communities including a short stint with student housing. Kim has held a variety of management positions over the years from Assistant Manager, Property Manager, Regional Property Manager which allows her to have a unique understanding of the challenges afforded our affordable community staffs. Kim works with and trains our affordable community staff. She also updates our compliance policies and related forms as changes in the various affordable programs evolve. Kim holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Evansville in Indiana. Kim is a certified occupancy specialist as well certified in LIHTC, she received her certifications through the National Center for Housing Management.
Steven is the Director of Training & Technology for E&G Group. He joined the company in 2010 and, since that time, has held multiple positions in various departments in E&G Group. Steven has developed, or managed the development of, a large portion of the company’s administrative protocols, functions, and standards; including the current Policies & Procedures, Goals & Objectives system, Standardized Performance Review process, and he has standardized E&G’s form and reporting systems. Steven is also the resident Yardi expert (current property management software). This firsthand knowledge of E&G Group’s functions and processes has allowed for Steven to take on the responsibility of training of all new and current E&G employees.
Additionally, Steven oversees all technology upgrades, changes, troubleshooting, and issue resolution for E&G Group. In this role, he serves as the in-house IT Manager for the corporate and property offices and as liaison to all contracted technology providers. Steven created and maintains the corporate website, as well as E&G’s “Information Portal,” the company’s intranet.
